Whenever decorating a surface, whether it be a table a shelf or a mantle I like to begin by cleaning it off completely. Starting with a blank canvas, is always best. We all have our own style and I believe that every mantle or table scape should reflect that style, especially for every day decorating.
I definitely love the simple and organic look I believe that my house is it cross between the simple organic and coastal styles. That being said, I’d like to show some simple decorating with an organic vibe as well as a coastal vibe. While it’s always fun to go shopping and incorporate some new pieces, especially if you’re needing extra inspiration, I like to start with just walking through my house and deciding what I’m sick of looking at in a certain area. Sometimes just moving it to another location makes it fresh and new again!
If you’re looking for a simple organic vibe, think of handmade things or anything from nature, such as plants ( synthetic works for those of us who don’t have a green thumb!), wood/wicker, pottery or glass.
Coastal of course is also somewhat of an organic look being that incorporates shells, beachy items anything found by the ocean lots of recycled or beach glass drift wood looks super pretty and makes such a coastal statement.
